Lake Orient, mirror of the forest
The best known of the three, Lake Orient stretches over 2,300 hectares sheltered by a great oak forest. In Mesnil-Saint-Père, a marina and a supervised beach open onto the horizon. You can rent a sailboat, a paddleboard or simply walk along the water. Summer skies, sometimes spectacular, invite shared silence. A picnic for two on the Charmont headland makes for a memorable date.
Lake Temple and Lake Amance, quiet charm
Lake Temple, to the east, is devoted to fishing and tranquillity: closed to swimming, it shelters a protected wildlife observed from hidden cabins. Lake Amance, more discreet, hosts the port of Dienville and its motorboats in a more family-friendly setting. The three lakes, linked by cycle tracks, can also be explored by bike for a gentle day for two.
Forest, vines and local pleasures
Around the lakes, the regional nature park spreads oak groves and ponds where deer and grey cranes live. A little further south, the hillsides of the Aube vineyards invite a tasting. The playful can take a detour to Nigloland, a family theme park. On Lyad, members from the Aube share their favourite paths; it is up to you to find someone to hear the forest sing with.
